Our mission

Our mission is to foster the development of a resilient and interconnected community by providing support to children, youth, and seniors. Through a commitment to educational empowerment, emotional well-being, and social cohesion, we strive to create a nurturing environment where every individual can thrive. 

How We Were Founded

iCare Youth, a non-profit youth organization established in Canada in June 2020, emerged in response to the educational challenges faced by our peers during the COVID-19 pandemic-induced school closures in March 2020. Recognizing the difficulties students encountered while learning from home, a compassionate group of young individuals initiated a mission to help. Our journey began with the provision of free online tutoring to students, a commitment that saw us dedicate substantial time and energy throughout the summer of 2020, accumulating over 550 tutoring hours.

As our impact grew, and the need for broader community support became apparent, our small group evolved into a larger team, culminating in the formal establishment of the organization iCare Youth. Building on our initial focus on online tutoring, we expanded our services to include a diverse range of initiatives. These efforts encompass creating YouTube fitness videos, developing educational blogs, hosting informative webinars, and crafting uplifting letters for seniors in our communities. Through these varied activities, iCare Youth is committed to making a positive and multifaceted impact on the well-being and education of our community.

Our Executive Team

Connor Mi (Co-founder and Co-president)

• Location: Ottawa, Ontario

• An avid reader and accomplished high school student, Connor stands out as a skilled flutist and pianist. In addition to his musical talents, he excels as a competitive swimmer and boasts proficiency in six languages.

Lucy Yue (Co-founder and Co-president)

• Location: Edmonton, Alberta

• A high-achieving high school student, Lucy embraces a variety of interests, ranging from reading and photography to crocheting and language learning. She is also a devoted fan of Taylor Swift.

 Emma Wang (VP)

• Location, Calgary, Alberta

• A multifaceted high school student with a passion for photography, drawing, and skiing, Emma is not only a skilled visual artist but also brings years of training in speech art. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Emma actively engages in volunteering within the community. 

Oscar Jia (VP)

• Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

• An enthusiastic high school student with a fervor for skiing, mountain biking and basketball. He holds a certification as a skiing coach. Oscar is also deeply involved in math and photography, having a keen fascination for cars. 

Jett Pei (VP) 

• Location: Toronto, Ontario

• A high school student fueled by a passion for music, actively contributing as a member of both the school jazz band and concert band. Alongside this musical dedication, Jett also harbors a keen interest in STEM, actively participating in his school's math and robotic clubs.

Raymond Ly (VP)

• Location: Edmonton, Alberta

• A passionate high school student, Raymond finds joy in playing sports like hockey and going on bicycle rides during his leisure hours. His curiosity extends to interests in space and prehistoric animals, and he particularly enjoys delving into business research.

Nicole Wu (VP)

• Location: Edmonton, Alberta

• A junior high student who finds pleasure in reading, listening to music, and cooking during her free time. Notably, Nicole is internationally recognized for her prowess in fencing.
